After a successful career in metropolitan journalism and cultural management, Liz established an event and marketing agency that became Awards Absolute - believed to be the first organisation in the world to offer holistic services for both awards managers and entrants.
Liz is also Director of Queensland Signature Events (a Sunshine Coast-based business that specialises in producing events in outdoor locations), a consultant for Events Tourism Associates (a collaborative festival, regional event and event tourism consultancy established by leading researcher and producer, Dr David Gration), and an Australian Event Awards judge.
Over the past 25+ years she has managed and produced dozens of successful high-profile events, including large public events, festivals, roadshows, conferences, product launches and gala awards.
Former industry positions have included Board Director of the Sunshine Coast's regional tourism organisation, Chair of Sunshine Coast Council's Tourism, Sport & Leisure Taskforce, Queensland Vice-President of the International Special Event Society (now ILEA) and Queensland Chair of Meetings & Events Australia (MEA).
She contributed to the development of the Events Management curriculum for TAFE NSW, has been on national advisory panels, and has enjoyed being a guest lecturer for the University of Sunshine Coast for more than 10 years.
As a practiced business consultant, coach, company director and public speaker, Liz loves collaboration and sharing her knowledge. She has given many, many talks and presentations to business and community organisations, such as the Australian Institute of Management (AIM), Australian Event Symposium, the Australasian Incentives, Meetings and Events (AIME) tradeshow, Associations Forum, Australian Events Expo (AEE) and at rotary clubs, conferences, and Chambers of Commerce meetings.
Kim Morgan - Director
A successful international business career has given Kim a unique perspective of both business and travel. Returning to Australia she jumped directly into the tourism industry and saw the value of excellence awards to dramatically grow and reposition her business.
Wins in both the Queensland and Australian Tourism Awards led to her representing the Sunshine Coast tourism region internationally, becoming Chair of the region’s Tourism Advisory Panel for several years and mentoring local business women.
Kim has since judged numerous excellence awards programs including the Queensland Tourism Awards, IBX – International Business Excellence Awards in Dubai, Asia Pacific Stevie Awards (including a stint as the Asia Pacific Chair), and the globally-recognised Stratus Award for Cloud Computing.
Becoming an Awards Absolute Director in 2013 gave her additional powerful insights into the setup, hosting, management and review of many awards programs, and she has undertaken extensive research and testing of awards software platforms.
This combination of experience has given Kim an intimate understanding of awards from the perspective of the first time entrant, submission writer, finalist, winner, host, manager and judge.
As a practiced company director, business mentor and coach with deep-dive tourism expertise, Kim is passionate about the need for continuous learning, improvement and adaptation both personally and in business.
Kim is also the founder of Courageous Action Network (CAN), a private membership network specifically established to bring together directors and senior executives of award-winning organisations from across all industries for collaboration, partnership, cross promotion and education with the aim of directly stimulating their local economic growth.
